The information we share with you here is very important and will certainly help you continue to comply with the law!
If your business (whether online or not) offers telephone contact to customers, you will have to clearly and visibly mention information regarding the price of the call. Let’s see below what the legislation says, and how you will have to present this information. Let’s do it?
Provision and dissemination of telephone lines for consumer contact. What do I have to do?
The law says that, if you provide a contact number or numbers to your customers, you must indicate them, clearly and visibly, on the main page of your website, and in all commercial documents. For example:
- Invoices;
- Commercial communications;
- Written communications; and
- Contracts concluded with consumers.
In addition, you will also need to have an indication of the price of calls. When it is not possible to indicate the values, for reasons of tariffs agreed with operators or other aspects, you can identify the numbers with the following indications:
- Call to the national landline network (For numbers starting with 2);
- Call to the national mobile network (For numbers starting with 9).
Attention: if you have both types of contact available, then you must use both mentions.
If you have several telephone numbers, you will have to indicate them in ascending order of price, starting with free lines, national lines and any others with a higher cost.
Provision and dissemination of telephone lines for consumer contact. What happens if you don’t comply?
Since June 2022, these measures have been monitored. In case of non-compliance, this measure has somewhat heavy fines, which can reach €24,000! In some cases, it can even reach higher values, if it is a very serious offense. So… don’t forget to check the contact information in your documents and digital platforms.
