How can you make a video in 4 steps and promote your business in a dynamic way?

A video is a powerful tool for promoting your business, as it allows you, through a dynamic way, to show potential customers what you have to offer.

But, what is the production process for a commercial video? And can I make a video of my business on my own? Where do I start, what equipment will I need, and what should I show? Obviously, these are some doubts that will arise. All relevant!

To help you, we’re going to tell you about the steps you should follow to make your video and make your business known to the world. Let’s go?!

How to produce a video in 4 steps?

1) Write a script – This is an extremely important step! It will define the entire process that will follow. A careful script is important so that your video makes sense and captivates your audience. When writing your script, try to focus on three important aspects:

  • Your client’s “problem” – By showing the “problems” that your clients may have, you create an emotional connection with them, which will make them willing to continue watching the video, to find the “solution”.
  • What you can do to help – You must show that you can solve the “problems” presented in the previous point, making your business known, in order to create credibility in your business.
  • The solution – Now you have captured the attention of your potential customers, you have created trust in your brand, the time has come to solve the “problems” you presented. At this point you will show your product or solution to the so-called “problem”.

2) Plan the filming – Now that you’ve decided what you’re going to film, you’ll need to think about the locations. In fact, this point can be addressed at the same time as the previous one, as they are quite interconnected.

Let’s imagine that your business has a physical location (store, office, warehouse, etc.), you can think about filming in that location.

Depending on the type of video you want to make, you may only need a white wall as a background, but in that case you’ll want to pay attention to the lighting (we’ll talk about this topic later).

3) Film, film, film… – It’s time to film. Our advice is to film more than you really need (believe me that at editing time, it will come in handy). Did the take go well the first time? Film again, just in case!

4) Editing – It’s time for your video to be edited. The first step will be to organize all the video clips you filmed. After that, you must choose the ones that best represent your vision for the final video. At this point, you can also add background music and narration (if your video has one). Everything will be a matter of “cutting and sewing” until you reach the final product.

Equipment and software – What do I need?

Don’t worry, you won’t need to make a large investment in equipment and software to make your video.

Obviously, with professional equipment you will achieve better results, but most smartphones have high quality cameras that you can use.

In terms of lighting, you can try to use the natural lighting of the space where you are filming. If this is not possible, if you have lamps, you can solve it that way. It’s all a matter of adapting to the equipment you have available.

Regarding software, there are many free options on the market (DaVinci Resolve is a professional and free option for both Windows PC and Mac, but if you have an Apple, you can always use iMovie). There are also apps for your smartphone or tablet. It’s a matter of seeing which one seems best to you to achieve your goal.
