What are Virtual Tours?
Virtual tours consist of an interactive tour, for example, to a property, through the use of 360° images (the most common form). Through virtual tours, it is possible to explore all the details of a property, as if we were there, all through your computer, tablet or smartphone.
What are the advantages of virtual Tours?
Virtual tours bring a series of advantages, both for professionals in the field and for clients. From better time management, reduced travel costs for tours and even greater security for all involved.
No more constraints regarding touring times, for example, and it becomes possible to tour the property as many times as necessary to see and analyze all the details, and then make a more conscious and effective decision.
Property owners also have advantages, for example, the advantage of not having to leave each time a tour is scheduled.
How to make a virtual tour?
Typically, what you need to carry out a virtual tour is:
- A 360° camera (you have many options, but these are the recommended ones); and
- The software to create the tour (we use Matterport).
What you might not know is that Matterport gives you the possibility of taking virtual tours with your smartphone! Something you can do without additional components, just with your phone. However, if you want to take your tours to a more professional level, we suggest you use the tripod developed exclusively by Matterport, to complement the use of your smartphone. How does a 360° camera work?
There are currently a wide range of 360° cameras on the market, with different prices, features and purposes. From a more technical point of view, these are cameras equipped with several lenses, which allow you to photograph the entire surrounding environment at once. And the software?
After taking the photos, it’s time to process them to create your virtual tour. This will be the most complicated part, as you will need specific software. There are several different software for this purpose (we use Matterport, but there are others). They will process your photos of all rooms and organize the property into a virtual plan, just like the one we share here:
